A stiff ocean breeze can make a stifling hot summer day more than bearable.  Conmbine it with the ocean and you have a vacation.  It's sand castle time. An unofficial competition.  There are the big-is-best castles, the most intricate, the sand sculptures, the moats and levies and ditches. The big shovels come out and you can see the product from the distance.

The makers leave as day wanes. Abandoned, the kids come out and adjust the design to their own taste. Remnants. That is all that remains. But then comes high tide.

In the morning, not a trace remains. The sand is smooth and  perfect. The new day.

I suspect, in a way, that's how our lives may seem in retrospect.  Filled with activity and sand castles. But then dawns a new day and where are our castles?

The real treasure is in the new day. The new day after the high tide washes away of all of it, all our sins, all our desires and all our so-called accomplishments. It is a washing that none of us enabled.  When we realize it's all a sand castle. Acknowledge our inabilities  and imperfections. That we are lost and we need Him, we are at the water's edge ready to be washed. And a washing we receive. It is  in the Word. In Baptism. In the bread and the wine. The new day sees us smooth and perfect. And with Him.

When the heat of summer is especially intense, it's time to be at the ocean. The one called forgiveness. To be washed. And be made smooth and perfect. And welcome in the new day. In authentic joy!

We are here to encourage you on your spiritual walk. Stop by or call.  There are so many opportunities here at King of Kings for God to grow in your faith.
